Router Firewalls

DG834N-V1 - 1.02.13 REV. 0850

Flash your router with the latest DGteam firmware and it adds newer updated Hardware firewall encryption algorithms.

It depends what you expect from the firewall. By default, the router's firewall won't block any outgoing (i.e. to the internet) traffic but will block anything incoming that isn't solicited (i.e. not corresponding to some kind of outgoing request).

newer updated Hardware firewall encryption algorithms.

Erm, what?

what i have noticed is my eset smart security blocks the Windows 7 Home-groups, it blocks it completely i remove it and my other computers reappear.

Erm, what?

You heard me, in a routers firmware, there are these things called modules.
1 of the modules has updated encryption algorithms to re enforce a routers hardware firewall.

but anyway.... erm what ? :)

maybe its something to do with wifi encryption and he got it confused with firewall

You could be right, i read that when dgteam release new firmwares that they upgrade the encryption software and hardware firewall with newer updated software that is actually in what you would call modules inside the actual firmware of the said router...

there for making the router more secure.

Nonsense. It's like the sort of buzzword bingo you'd get in a press release.

hahaha, come back when you know the ins and outs of a netgear dg834GT firmware.
and if anyone is going to know what there talking about then i would have to say DGteam know what there talking about.

Why do I need to know the ins and outs of an open source firmware for a consumer firewall to know there's no "updated hardware firewall encryption algorithms" in a firmware upgrade?
If you don't even understand what you're dribbling about, maybe it's you that needs to go away and come back when you have a clue. Though I have a feeling I'm feeding the troll.

Think he may have it confused with Open ssl which was just added. Anyway, what do the op mean by just as good? Hardware firewall =/= software firewall which does application control, something a router can't. Use both.
