Hi all.

Bit of a strange one. I've recently had Virgin Media installed and it all works fine if I'm directly plugged into the modem to the laptop via ethernet.

Problem occurs when going through the router connected to the modem. I can connect to the network through LAN and wireless, because i can get on the router settings etc. For some reason I cannot get internet access.

Router = Linksys WRT54GL.

Does anyone know what might be causing the issue?

You need to clone your modem MAC address. There will be an option in the Linksys console to clone MAC address - you need to copy your VM's modem MAC address in there to get internet access.

Is the router getting an IP from the modem?
Gone through the whole process you need to do when you change the device attached to the modem (disconnect modem, modem off, wait a bit, modem on, wait for lights to settle, connect router to modem, all should go)?

You don't have to clone your network card's MAC address - my suggestion's the proper way to do it, and won't leave you with the same MAC address on both sides of the router.
