Router losing ADSL sync when refreshing master server list in Call of Duty Black Ops.

Hi folks.

I really hope you guys can help me fix this.

A lot of the time, loading a list of servers in call of duty black ops, or refreshing the master server list kills my internet connection for the entire house. It is only this that kills my internet connection, heavy downloading, other games, HD streaming = no issue.

When this happens, my PC and other devices in the house remain connected to the router and the router doesn't appear to reboot or switch off. What does happen though is that I lose sync with my ADSL provider (BE). I am using a NETGEAR PRO-SAFE DGFV338 router. The router is good, but one issue it has is that it takes up to half an hour to re-sync with my ADSL connection which makes all this very frustrating. I have tried the reliability profile BE provide but it still happens and my line is good so I don't think it's an ADSL stability issue.

From having a look on the internet, it seems it may be something to do with my router having a panic attack and resetting the connection when it makes too many concurrent pier to pier connections. I have seen something about changing max ports to 1024 but my router doesn't seem to have this setting.

I know some of you have excellent networking abilities, so I would hugely appreciate it if you could get your thinking caps on for this one. I will provide you with any info that is missing but I hope i've got enough detail in.

Thanks in advance.

Get onto your ISP, tell them you game and ask them to set your Max-Delays to at least 8, ask them to check your line to see if their are any fault's, your ISP is?

Have you updated the routers firmware to the latest one?

Thanks. ISP are BE as stated in original post ;) What does changing the max-delays do? (I want to learn). I am already on the fastpath profile.

Could be that the the router can't handle all the requests the GS master server is giving and it's crashing, bit like the old bit torrent used to make routers crash.

Sounds plausible. Is there a fix? The router stays up though, it's the ADSL sync that goes.

hmmm the only way to tell if it's the router is to try another a friends maybe.

failing that, see if there is a firmware update for yours.

I have several so will try another later. Bit tricky as I'm in a student house and all the network equipment is hidden away where I'm not allowed to get to it.
