I'm in dire need of some help, I am at a loss

I have a zyxel 660HW-T1 and I'm with karoo (:()

karoo being the awesome isp they are, use different dsl settings to bt

the information they supply is:

IP Address Server Assigned
The Primary DNS number: 212.50.160.100
The Alternate DNS number: 213.249.130.100
Your NNTP server: usenet.karoo.co.uk
It does not require you to login.
Additional Broadband Settings
VPI 1
VCI 50
Encapsulation RFC2364 PPPoATM
Modulation G.dmt
Authentication CHAP

The options The router has:

zyxel660wstep3wk3.jpg

zyxel660wstep3tb2.jpg

zyxel660wstep4tz8.jpg

Under the "change lan configuration" - i have the option of entering

LAN IP Address
LAN Subnet Mask
DHCP server on/off
Client IP Pool Starting Address
Size Of Client IP Pool
Primary and secondary DNS IPs

I am lost - and I hate karoo even more, and theres nothing I can do about it :( - any help Greatly appreciated

From the screens posted you cant change the VPI/VCI setting on screen shot 3 from the wizard screen

you will have to go to the main menu and look for a setting for vpi
screen shoots suggests this is 8 at the moment & vci currently 38

find setting in main menu and change these to the suggested 1 and 50, that should be a major problem fixed

username and password can be blank or if the router hates that then anything will do, theres a fair chance that might get things working

forget the lan information you dont need to change it now you need to get logged onto karoo

What??! The username and password must be set to the OP's Karoo account settings or the router won't authenticate with Karoo.

It'll also work better if the encapsulation is set to PPPoA rather then PPPoE.

@m3csl2004: try using the main menu rather than the wizard to configure the router. I remember trying to configure a 660HW and it's not as easy as a Netgear...

That ZyXel should have a method to enter 'Advanced Configuration' usually given as an option when you first set the router up, however if the option to tell the router to always enter 'Wizard Setup' was selected at first setup, then I would suggest you look on the back of the router for a small 'hole' with a button in that allows you to reset the router to factory deafaults, pressing this in with the tip of a pen 'gently' for more than 10 seconds should reset the router to the defeault factory settings.

Then log onto the router enter the default password which is '1234' on ZyXel's, and it will ask you for a new one, put whatever you like and then it will ask you to log in again, do so and it should then present you with a screen giving you the option to start 'advanced or wizard setup' tell it to start advanced and I would also tell it to 'awlays start advanced setup' and then you should be able to change all the options you need, from VP/VCI, encapsulation methods, NAT, whatever.

I've configured about 80 of the Prestige 600 series mini dsl modem/routers for the clients the company I work for provides IT support/services for, recently. We've just setup a new PWAN, and we selected to use the ZyXel Prestige 660 series mini router to get all the offices and home based users connected up. Good little routers, slightly different to yours but the software is bascially the same, if not identical as they are from the same product line.
