Router/modem that supports modem only mode?

I'm an eejit and bought a router without a built-in modem. Now I need to sort myself out a modem. I'd use the pre-existing ADSL router/modem from my ISP, but it doesn't seem to support any sort of modem-only mode. Would you recommend me one that does?

It would be cheaper to return the router and buy one that has a built in modem. There are only a few modems around and they are pretty pricey.

Would indeed be cheaper, but not an option cos China. I'm hoping to run a cheapo router/modem as a modem only... Hoping.

Look on ebay for a HG612.
