is it possible (on any known routers) to apply a proxy server info directly to the router, instead of the machines connecting to it?

I am in uni halls and require a proxy server connection, however my phone cant input proxy info, and i remember seeing something about wrt's doing it somewhere?

atm im using a virgin netgear wnr2000v2, but will have my old wrt54gs running tomato soon.

It's not strictly speaking a router "appliance", but pfsense can handle an upstream proxy and transparently re-proxy it for downstream devices, via the Squid package. As long as you've got a spare old PC to stick it on, then it shouldn't be any more difficult to setup than DD-WRT or Tomato.
