I have just joined sky broadband superfast and getting speeds to 61Mbps downloads & uploads speeds to 21.10Mbps or is the max speeds sky are giving ?

Would i improve these speeds and connection with a better router ? If so my budget is around £150

Probably not. Well not enough to make it worth the effort. On a Sky connection, your router choices will be limited anyway (Google Sky MER).

How are you testing? You can't be getting an upload that high as VDSL it tops out at roughly 19Mbps.

For a new connection, you need to wait a week to 10 days for the line to stabilise.

How is the speed you're getting compared to the speed you were promised? Also, how does it compare to the results from https://www.dslchecker.bt.com/?

If you have just joined, your line is still in the training phase where speeds will be adjusted accordingly, let the DLM do it’s thing and leave the router alone. While it’s possible that you may be able to get slightly faster speeds with different hardware, you will potentially spend a disproportionately large amount of money for no guaranteed gain.

*edit* Beaten to it by seconds, for clarity, Sky do not use MER, it’s DHCP option 60/61.

Speeds i was promised by Sky are between 40 & 60 so i just done speed test and got 61Mbps downloads , so i guess buying a new better router would be a waste
