Hi

Our Linksys WAG325N is broken and out of warranty, so I'm after a new one.

We live pretty much the furthest away possible from the exchange and get 512Kbps max. It's also an extremely unreliable line.

When we first moved here we had a USB modem that would connect to a PC and share the connection. Every single day this would disconnect.

We then bought a Zyxel which kept the line up a lot better, however that broke.

We then bought the WAG325N which has been quite good.

Any recommendations? Here's our stats from the temporary BT Homehub if they help:

Code:
Uptime:	0 days, 16:49:02
Modulation:	G.992.1 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:	224 / 512
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/GB]:	159.67 / 2.05
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]:	12.0 / 14.0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:	31.5 / 63.5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]:	6.0 / 5.5
Vendor ID (Local/Remote):	TMMB / TSTC
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote):	0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote):	4 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote):	0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote):	0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote):	19 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down):	0 / 0
CRC Errors (Up/Down):	0 / 2,234
HEC Errors (Up/Down):	0 / 796

I'm also wanting to upgrade our network to gigabit, however a separate switch can be bought for that if necessary.

Also needs decent wireless. Budget is ~£80 or less.

[Edit]
Oh, and needs a modem. Doesn't need to be built in, but if it isn't then could someone recommend a separate one as well please.

Thanks
Craig.

I'm in a similar situation to you, I live super far away from the exchange, some websites even say "sorry, no broadband available at your address".

I've tried every tweak in the book, had new faceplates installed etc, disconnected the skybox from the phone socket -causes problems with some people

Tried 5 different routers.

I left each one in for at least a week, so it could train etc.

The best speed I got from any router was the linksys wag354g, this is what we're using now, hasn't crashed once, 100% uptime afaik.. download speed is roughly 80kB/s

Draytek's I tried were very unstable on my line (totally fine elsewhere) and had around 35kB/s

Dlink was reasonably stable, and around 45kB/s

I'm tempted to try a linksys AM200, but at the moment I'm happy with this router + a gigabit switch

i always use dlink 2460b's a few times I have put them on un-reliable lines and its helped get a better connection...

last person had a belkin that would not connect at all, neither would a linksys I tried.. however the dlink managed to get a connection (all be it very slow and it takes a few atempts to connect)

Have you tried the netgear DG834GT flashed with DGteam's latest firmware? I have one at home at presents some great sync speeds- some good ADSL line tweaks as well.

give it a go there are some good deals on ebay with Sky branded DG834GT'S which can be flashed easily :)

I payed £5 for my sky branded Netgear DG834GT, flashed back to netgear firmware, then flashed with the DGTeam firmware, currently running the latest DGTeam firmware and it rocks.

Best router ever for the price!
