I have a netgear D6400 connecting to Zen fibre 2, copper to door and no site of full fibre for a while here.

The router is now unsupported due to age and I want to update it to ensure it remains secure and fends well against the outside world. But i have a good deco mesh wireless system so I don't need any wifi at all on it, whatever it has will be turned off so I don't care for all the high end wifi stuff, I just want a decent supported router that I can forward a few ports on and keep nice a secure.

Any suggestions, its all about the wifi on all the routers now when you read the blurb and not much about there ability to actually route :(

If the D6400 can do a bridge mode then do that, have your primary Deco base act as the router and do your port forwards on it. The D6400 being EOL won't matter if it's bridged as nothing can interact with it anyway.
