Hi folks,
After reading the forums for a while I opted for the Billion 7800N router, which seems to be a popular choice.
I am having a few issues with the router that were not present with my previous one (a standard issue Thompson one that was free with BeThere), and would very much appreciate some advice.
I will caveat everything below with the fact that I am by no means savvy with networking and router issues beyond the fairly basic stuff.
The main issue I have is that very frequently, when trying to load webpages, be it google, the OcUK forums, facebook, anything really, internet explorer hangs for a while then I get "the page could not be displayed".
I have run a ping /t and notice that I am getting frequent time outs that last a long period of time, so I guess that could be the problem.
My laptop and my wifes laptop can see the network fine, full strength signal, and can connect to it no problem. But the same issue exists on both laptops with the time outs / web pages not loading first time etc.
When I do get a connection it is all very fast and snappy as you might expect.
As far as interference is concerned, there is nothing really between my laptop and where the router is sitting.
Sorry for the long post, I thought it best to try and provide as much detail as possible.
I would be very grateful of some advice, or if someone with knowledge of router setup would take me through all the options available on the router setup page. As an example of one page, I have no idea what should be checked or unchecked:
ADSL Mode Annex L Annex M
Modulator ADSL2 ADSL2+ G.Lite T1.413 G.Dmt
Capability SRA Enable
PhyR Upstream Downstream
Thank you in advance
