Router Setup Issue

I've been using a Dlink wireless router (wired) for ages now. One of my web hosts I've had an issue with for a while using their phpMyAdmin, it wouldn't let me insert or update any data through the panel.

Last couple of days I was trying to update a site on the host, and while any files 1KB or under FTP'd fine, a 5KB file just wouldn't make the leap.

Running a few trace routes didn't highlights any problems, so their techs suggested dropping down the MTU on the router, which was at 1500. I plugged in my old BT router to see if the original settings were lower, but that was 1500 as well, but that would actually let me ftp any file size and give me full use of their phpMyAdmin panel.

So if the MTU's are the same, what other setting should I be looking to adjust on the Dlink to get it back to being usable?

Cheers

Could be a router quirk but I've had issues with web driven / java applications that hated certain combinations of browser and antivurus software (only accepted part of the commands i was issuing)

Anything like that changed recently? Got alternative software to try.

Thanks for the replies fellas.

Have you actually tried new lower MTU settings on the Dlink?

Yeah I found a site with some recommended settings for BT, but still the same issue.

Would the change of router affect that though? Do you think the firewall on the Dlink router (I don't think the BT router has one) could be a conflicting factor?
