Router Speeds?

My current (isp supplied Actiontec) router is a 100mbps router, but i've been having some problems with it. A friend of mine has given me a Netgear Router which is 54mbps, will the speed difference be noticeable, or even relevant!?!

I have an 8mb ADSL connection.

Thanks for any light you can shed, as i have no idea what these speeds are indicating lol!?!

Possibly not relevant - the 100Mbps on the Actiontec will be referring to the wired connection to the router and the 54Mbps on the Netgear is the wireless - it does 100Mbps wired as well.

Ah okay, thanks for the help.

On a side note... I notice that you can get 108mbps routers too, is 54 likely to cause me any problems with gaming? ie lag etc.
