Hi all,

Having read a few posts about router stats (in particular in the Billion router thread) I realised I have no idea what the numbers mean and whether they are better to be high or low.

He are my stats, would someone be so kind please as to explain whether mine are good or not. The is on a Netgear DG834g V1

Here is the result of a speedtest on a recently upgraded BT 21CN line.

I'm looking for a new router (probably the Billion 7800N), should stats influence my decision.

Many thanks

You need to install Java and visit the same site if you want the IP profile.

Trying to get this to work on the wired PC but it just keeps erroring out. it works on the wireless laptop but thought I read somewhere that it should be on a wired connection.

I'll keep trying.

This evening the reading is generally 0db but went down to -3db a little while ago.

Think I'll hang fire on the new Billion for the moment as I thought that I read that it wasn't too good with a low noise ration

I've rebooted the router and I'm now getting the following stats:

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 13358 1099
Line Attenuation 20 db 4 db
Noise Margin 6db 6 db

The download Noise Margin has been pretty steady at 6db since this morning (just the odd, brief drop to 4b)

Just performed a BT speedtest (via wireless conenction) and got these results.

Download speedachieved during the test was - 5.35 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 11.31 Mbps
