Router that's good

I got the WRT54GL and downloaded the DD-WRT firmware, sooooo many options @_@ - seems ace though

Unless you have 2 lines, it really would be pointless getting that router. :)

Go for either the above (WRT54GL) with DD-WRT or some other Linksys one.

High price doesn't always = good product.

Save your pennies, buy something cheaper thats just as good, if not better, then get a ISP that doesn't throttle/FuP you to death. ;)

yeah i got the WRT54GL, and the DD-WRT firmware, this is in my other reply lol =p

but im with NTL and although theyre better than any of the ADSL providors ive been with i still get packet loss and restrictions in bandwidth

the problem i face is my distance from my exchange so to have any speed over 1mb i have to go with cable instead of ADSL.

regardless of all that, im a bit bewildered by all the settings that DD-WRT brings, like the VPN tunnels that are all enabled. running utorrent now and it seems to be restricting my upload but the port has been forward, so not sure what settings to look at :(

putting my machines IP in the DMZ wont effect the torrent either, its green transfer - clean connection, just upload sticks at <1.0kbps :(

Dunno what's going on to be honest, the uTorrent port is forwarded, if I put my machines IP in the routers DMZ the upload speed doesn't change - uTorrent reads the connection as green, the availability of the Torrent is > 60.0.

What the hell's wrong

lol, I honestly didn't see it was you that posted that! :o

Anyway, heres how I have uTorrent setup on my router, although my firmware is nothing special. :)

I hope you get the idea of all that. :)

Seems alright now, must just be the specific Torrent - twas a false alarm, jumping to conclusions is bad.
