Hi,

I have a Starlink router connected to a Netgear internet switch and there is an issue whereby the hardware devices on the LAN connected to the Netgear switch keep changing their local IP's.
Normally, if I was using something like a BT Home Hub router with the Netgear switch the local IP's for the devices remains the same.

I have been advised I need to place a 3rd part router in line between the Starlink router and the Netgear switch and that this will let the hardware devices keep the same local IP.
The 3rd part router is supposed to need to be "Ethernet on WAN" capable, I think this means it has a port that can accept the internet from the Starlink router and pass it on to the Netgear switch?

I am clueless about the technical side of things so wondered if anyone would be able to advise me on a suitable 3rd part router that can be used for my need?

Thx
Bintos

I do not have Starlink and I do not know why the Starlink router is changing your local IP's all the time. Also, I do not know if Starlink has a pass-through mode that can allow it to become a simple modem. Having covered all the reasons why I shouldn't be answering this question, almost any router will do. Just choose one that has the features you need, oh, and one that DOESN'T have a built-in modem.
Regards the pass-through mode, a quick check on the internet, and it looks like that mode is called Bypass Mode in the Starlink. You need to check on that. It's often not critical to select it, but it is advisable.
I don't know how many ports you have on the Netgear switch, but it may be an idea to get a router that has the same number of ports, so you can just replace the Netgear switch with the new router.
