I have wireless internet in my house and have just built a new desktop pc. I want to get internet on the pc but would rather not use up slots on my motherboard for a pci wireless card.

I have a spare wireless router. Can i use it to receive the signal then connect to my pc via ethernet?

no I cant really run a wire to where it is unfortunately.
The spare modem is a Tiscali modem, can provide specifics later when I get home.

Id rather not add in another card if I can avoid it and I heard usb ones are not great. Other than that, what about the things that run over a power network?

You need to set it up as a wireless access point, it should have an option for that if it is possible. Then provide it with the SSId and security settings.

Do not use it to provide dynamic DNS, if your other router is set up for that, it will get confused.

usb ones are alright, but some of the cheaper ones tend to eat up CPU, one good thing about the usb one is that you can get a simple usb extension and position it for optimal signal.

and as far as ive seen PCI express wireless cards seem to be the slow mbps ones.
wasnt able to find a 300mb's pci express at all
