Need a router that will replace the Sky Hub which is dire in terms of speed and don't want to spend any more than £70-£80, less is even better.

Looking at the TP-Link WDR-3600 at the moment for £65 or so. I was liking the look of the ASUS ones but they seem to be £100+ which is too much.

Primarily it needs to have Gigabit for my LAN and wireless coverage needs to be fast, not long distance as my flat isn't that big.

I replaced the SR101 with a TP Link W8968, and has worked brilliantly with everything. This model doesn't have gigabit ethernet, but there are models which do and within your budget.

Didn't know about MER thanks. I see there is a ddwrt firmware for the 3600, hopefully that will do it
MER is not active on all lines all the time,my line can connect via ppoa most of the time, obviously you need to extract your username and password
and i think the billion routers use mer as an option??
