I am looking to buy the Asus WL-500g Premium router, to use as a NAS/torrent client. My flat already has a router serving the house, can I link a router to a second router ie the second router use the first routers internet connection/connect to the network?

Thanks:)

I want to use the router as a NAS that can be accessed within the network and on the internet 24/7. Now the simple way would be just to use it as the main router, however I am not to sure if my landlord would approve. So I will have to link it to the network somehow.

(the Asus WL-500g Premium - allows you to add a USB drive and run a torrent client:))

In which case you don't want to use any of the routing capabilities - turn off DHCP, don't connect anything to the WAN port. It'll make life much easier.

I can't see why your landlord would be bothered if you swapped router.

So is this possible:

modem - router - wifi/lan access to network (and ASUS (NAS/Router) via wifi)

then I can control the ASUS via the internet outside my LAN/WLAN, and access the ASUS within the network via LAN?
