Our router that we have at work, which is connected to a Win 2003 server, is getting too hot to touch when it is being used a lot, is this normal? I know routers do get hot but surely getting too hot to touch is not right?

At the minute ive got a large desk fan on it and that is keeping it cool as when it gets really hot the net speed dives from 7meg to just over 1meg!

Any ideas / Suggestions?

Its an amazing....*detect the hint of sarcasim here*.... Etec PT-3812!

Even more reason for getting it changed, you pick up something decent these days for something like 50 notes.

I am in the same situation. My Linksys WAG345G router gets pretty hot after awhile of use. Not so hot that you cant touch it, but too hot for my liking. No warrantly cause i got it second hand unfortunately.

My new d-link g604T wireless router gets quite warm, but my previous d-link 604T router I had, that wasnt wireless, only got slightly warm while downloading stuff. So Ive turned my new routers wireless power down to 50% and thats made it a bit cooler.

lol i have a netgear 845G XD. its exactly the same as the pic above, except for the wireless aerial , which I don't have. strangely, Mine is working fine with 4 (busy) LAN connections, and I have no problem with heat, even when I leave it on for a few weeks. If you have the ability to open your router, a good dust blowoff will help probs.
