Hey Guys

I've currently got an old Dlink DI-604 router thats been workin great for the last few years but I've ran out of available connections on it and would also like wifi capabilities.

A couple of friends of mine have both got Linksys WRT54G/GS routers and my experiences with them have been quite good. they both seem to be decent enough and stable so have been looking at these.

what exactly is the difference between the WRT54GL thats on OcUK and the WRT54GS? from what I can tell the GS has faster wifi where as the GL has more mem on it which could come in handy if i flashed it with DD-WRT or Tomato or somethin. Also I can pick the GS up for about £20 where as the GL is £43

Is there any reason not to go for the GS over the GL at these prices? is there any other features i've missed on either?

Thanks in advance

GL using firmware like Tomato is a better router than the GS, though you're still going to be limited to the 4 port onboard switch so if you're looking to add more wired clients a switch is what you will also need to add.

my idea was to get a couple of my devices on wireless instead of wired so the standard 4-ports will be fine with wireless

plus if i ever needed anymore ports I could always set my current router up to act as a switch

So the GL is def the better router, looks like thats the one i'll go for then :)
