Sometimes, on average once every 2-3 days, my internet will stop working. I think its a problem with vista, when the problem occurs, the network icon, says access local. If I right click it 'diagnose and repair' everything works again. When the internet stops working, I still have other machines connected to the network ok, but just can't access the internet. Ive got a dg834g router if this helps.

Just wondered if anyone else has had any niggles with a problem like this?

I have a DG834N and have had problems since upgrading to Vista.

When the computer boots it takes 3 minutes or longer for the network icon to remove the red cross through it and connect to the Internet. In addition I have at times had the problem you describe.

I stopped using the onboard Nforce network controller and got a Netgear GA311 card (less than 15 quid) I now don't have the problem you describe after downloading vista drivers. That may help you.

But I still have my original problem :(

Even Netgear telephone support got confused!!

Had a similar issue with a friends Vista home and I had to assign some IP's to the PC to match that of the router network and that solved the issue?

Some instructions a mate gave me : Go into Networking/Sharing Center. Click on View details beside the network adaptor. Click on Properties, and then double click on IPv4 Internet Protocol TCP/IP. Click the boxes that say "use the following..." and enter an IP address within the routers range. (e.g. 192.168.0.2) with subnet 255.255.255.0, default gateway of the router IP (e.g. 192.168.0.1) and the first DNS box as the router IP also

I normally have to wait about 20mins until I can access this site again, which is a pain :( Ive not idea why this happens and ive only had this problem with this forum.

anyone? Still having the above problem :(

Only way ive found is to open network connections, disable then enable. But I shouldn't have to do that each time
