What's a 'gaming spec router'?
How do you want to restrict them?
Which ISP and what sort of connection?
What devices?
If you just want to kill access during certain hours I'd run separate wireless networks and disable the one they have access to as necessary. Hopefully none of their devices have 3G/4G connectivity.

As above, time scheduling if it's what you want will be a good option.
My Asus AC68U has time scheduling based on the MAC address (so it doesn't matter if it's wireless or wired) under AiProtection -> Parental Controls and there's an app for it, but I haven't really tested this feature out.
