Hi all, sorry if this is a bit of a dumb question but can you get a router with a USB connection on it, I want to get a laptop that will be wireless and also I want my desktop to be wired but my ethernet connection doesnt work so it would have to have a USB output on it.

regards.

No they don't. USB is not the preferred form of connection due to requiring additional drivers and has a higher CPU overhead.

Off the top of my head the Speedtouch 330 has USB and is very cheap second hand. It is however not great on MAX technology and doesn't have wireless.

Most routers will have both usb and ethernet.
Routers with both USB and Ethernet are actually extremely rare, the only one I know of is an old Draytek Vigor which allowed you to use a USB modem and ethernet to the PCs. I don't know of anything that'll do USB to the PC.

What's wrong with a PCI ethernet card?

Correct but it's just a modem, not a router.

neither the netgear or linksys i've used have usb, my cheap 20 quid safecom thing at home does though. The safecom is the best damn router i've had and the cheapest, go figure.

Voyager 210 is a router with single ethernet and single USB or if you want wireless then a Voyager 2091 has wireless as well
