I was asking about the IP blocking on the Malwarebytes forum, which is part of the program which they sell. I was asking how easy is it for someone to hack my PC using my ip. I told them I use a normal modem that most of the time has the same IP. A member on there told me its risky not to have a router with a firewall on it.

So my question to you guys is a router needed if the program IP blocks anyway? And if it is a good option can anyone point me to a cheap but decent one, as I'm not good with routers.

What are you using to connect to the Internet at the moment?

A Motorola cable modem.

It would be a good idea to get a router.

What's the speed of your connection?

Something like the Netgear WNR2000 should be suitable.

20MB, also is that the cheapest? I dont think I need a wireless, my pc is a few feet from the the wall, or are all routers wireless these days?
