Looking to upgrade my sky router to up the wireless signal/speed and range. What does everyone recommend, not looking to spend silly money but around the £100 but would consider more if needed.
I have a home network with file sharing and Plex which could be streamed to a couple of machines at the same time

First you do know that you need to extract the username and password from your SKY router to use a 1 box solution?
What wireless devices do you want to connect?G,N,AC?

I could get it with wire shark but would happily use either as there are good points for using either. Ideally i would like all the modern standards.

If it's purely for improving the wifi, I'd be tempted to install a UniFi wireless access point, from my own experience they seem to perform better than any of the consumer wireless I've tried before

See if you can get Sky to sell you one of their new Sky Q Hubs - its a very decent wireless AC router - I had an Archer C7 previously when with Virgin and get very similar connection speeds now (Can easily see 800mbps wireless connection speed on my laptop) on it.

I got it for £20 when I joined last month.
