Hello, i have a Belkin ADSL Modem with Built-In 802.11g Wireless Router.

Theirs two computers in the house that use the router, they both connect eg Wireless.

When i turn the pc on from downstairs it connects straight away but when i turn the second pc on which is upstairs i have to always repair the connection and it gets a tad annoying sometimes, sometimes this works sometimes it dosent.

Does anyone know why it does this, could the configuration be set up all wrong.

Thanks

Is it laptop or desktop? I would first of all try reinstalling the drivers for the device whatever it is. If its a latop it will be a PCMCIA card and if its a desktop a PCI wireless LAN card. I would suggest getting the latest drivers from the Ralink website!

A wireless lan card can support 802.11g and 802.11b standard. They are basically standards for transmitting data across wireless networks, each one uses different bandwidth speeds etc.

EDIT: bit late!!

Only things I can think of suggesting are try another wireless card to see if you have a faulty one and also try moving the machine right next to the router to see if the problem stops :)

The problem seems to be the card from what you say, besides what Trigger says you could try updating the firmware on the router but I don't think this would solve the issue you are having!
