Any recommendations? Going up there later in the week for around two nights in total, travelling from Cumbria on a CB500s and camping at night.

Has anyone been up there or live up there who could suggest a good route?

Hello.
How far into Scotland do you want to go?
Id reccomend going Glasgow > Loch Lommond and then a bit up North, great roads and awesome scenery.

Cheers for the reply, I'll do a route on google maps to be critiqued tonight! Was palnning on getting as far as Falkirk on the first day then possibly a few hours further north then crossing to the west coast and back down to cumbria.

Well the timescale went to pot, clutch cable was very frayed and close to snapping and the fork seals were showing signs of leaking so I've been busy sorting that out in-case either went kaput while in the middle of nowhere.

Done a quick route for the first leg, not too sure where to go from here. The route looks OK on google maps/street view but I'll have to wait and see if I've picked a good one.

Spent a few days at Fort William last year, well, Glencoe actually.
We rode out from there for the day and returned back at night. A little break on the JOG to LE run!

We went over to the Isle of Mull one day, Mallaig the next, great fun on the bike!

Basically, north west is best but any mountain road, single track, quiet in the hills road will do.

Just watch out for sheep!

Just a suggestion for you east coast run (I live dundee so its my normal roads), instead of heading to perth head to dundee out through birkhill to Coupar Angus (A923), Blairgowrie (A93), Bridge of Cally, Pitlochry(A924). Much more interesting bike roads. The A9 is a killer, to slow, to straight, to boring.

For even more fun and stunning views (time dependant) after heading north up A9 from Pitlochry take a left to Tummel Bridge (B8019) (Stop at Queens View (halfway along tummel) for amazing view) Carry on till just past Dunalastair, take a right and follow that road (B847) until Struan then back onto the A9. This is a great loop on the bikes would be a real shame to miss it.

Taking the A9 you are missing the best roads on the east coast, you dont want to come all this way to be bored!

Done 90% of the route I suggested yesterday, roads are in good condition. Only 2/3 of corners on the way to Dunkeld had a bit of gravel in the middle. Tummel road is in amazing condition.

Not long back, had a great ride, thanks for the route suggestions :)

^ Used your first route and then headed up to Loch Lomand then back into Cumbria, 550 miles round trip and I am sore! Shame I got wee'd on for about an hour which soaked me right through, luckily I had spare gloves and socks to switch to but boy was I cold 'till the sun came back out. Can't remember where but there was one stretch of road which was horrible (don't think it was part of your route), it had been resurfaced with stone chips and the tyre tracks cars leave had dislodged the stones, someone of which were in the middle of the road, and it was soaking wet which meant I had to literally stick within the rut for about 5 miles. One corner on the Loch Lomand road nearly KO'd me, didn't realise that it tightened half way round, had to literally pick the bike up, slam brakes on, then tip it in almost horizontal.

All in all a very nice few days out so thanks for the help :)
