hello!

ok well i have a problem.. as some of you may know i reciently got my hands on a rover 214i, it needed some work which has now been done.. but i have a slight problem which needs looking at and i am at a loss.

it had work done to the engine which involved disconnecting the battery. and now the immobiliser wont go off. anoying thing is that i dont have the code that comes with the car! and i cant find a garage that can recode it or what ever needs done to get it working again.

does anyone have any solutions?!

thanks!!!

Ok, unlock the car with the key and press the lock button 4 times.

On the 4th press the doors should lock. Unlock the car with the fob and the immobiliser should turn off.

That is if you have central locking.

Yep, it should still work.

The red alarm LED should start flashing if the fob has resync'd correctly.

Oh, unlock but don't open the door.

hi

the red led is flashing at the mo... i take it that means the imobo is set?

just tried it .. didnt seem to work :(

ok well the car is in hot wire mode at the moment.. taking it back round the the garage at 8 to unhotwire it...

the light is now off.. does that mean the immobiliser is off?

what i did was unlock the car. press the unlock button four times and press the lock button and THEN locked the car... the light went off... ive not tried to open it or anything just going to wait until i go to the garage later...

does that sound like its turned off now?

If the light is off, that means the immobiliser is disarmed.

Try to start it, see if it works.

What do you mean, hotwire mode?

hi! i ment its hotwierd! just to get around the immobiliser.

the light went out but when i opened the door the alarm still went off... gutted. so got the alarm off and poped down to the garage..

turns out the battery was dead! damn it really got me! they checked the battery that was in there with a volt meter and was apparently good.. hotwired it on then fired on down to tesco bought a new battery just to see what would happin. pluged it in and hey presto

its all working now!

cheers for your help buddy
