Had a new head gasket, cam belt, and oil + water change done to my Rover 214si over christmas, came to about #650 in total, plus a new clutch for #130 just before this.

So its not been a cheap year, and i would say as the car is generally in good condition it might be worth around #1000 if I sort it out a little as it only has 44k on the clock.

I willl be looking to sell it later on in the year, so is it worth having it serviced? Ive owned it nearly 8 months and other than the bills above i have no service history. The old chap that owned it previously said he just did oil and water changes himself and thats all its had.

The only thing im bothered about is getting as higher resale value as possible.

Should I take it for a service, or is it just a waste of money as far as resale value goes?

Just keep to the service schedule, listed in a haynes manual. Change the oil and other fluids when you should, fix anything that breaks anything else is a waste of money yes

Thats what i wanted to hear really. As the cars only worth #1000 tops dont wanna pour more money in it. It has a cam and oil change 5 months ago.
