On thursday I sent what could be the most important Application Pack of my remaining working life.
I told the Post Office that it had got to get there by wednesday (today) and I must be able to track it.
So I waited until monday and it hadn't been delivered.
Tuesday went by and today at midday I got worried - http://track.royalmail.com/portal/r...ltspage&keyname=track_blank&_requestid=121547

I decided to ring the College -
Is today the last day to apply for the job?
No, today is the last day for the Application Packs to arrive
I have a problem, I've been tracking the package on Royal mail and it hasn't been signed for
Whats your name?
Dave Poole
Yeah, it arrived on monday

Ok, lets play hunt dmpoole's parcel on Royal Mail (knowing my luck they'll update the page just as I press submit new thread)-

This is what I get when I enter the details:

Wondering if posty did not get a signature

Recorded Signed For™ items are only tracked after the item has been delivered. Depending on whether the item was sent first or second class, this may be a few days after posting. Please try again later.
Information on your item is not yet available online.

Had this many times now. Usually happens only with 2nd class stuff with me. RM are a joke these days - it took 7 days for 2nd class to arrive this week, and the letter I sent before that they shredded. I only use them when I have to now, most things I get sent with other companies, if they can't do a job, they're not getting my cash.

happens all the time with 1st and second class recorded because it gets sorted with the normal mail

therefore when sorting 1000s of envolopes into rounds in a hurry you can easy miss the signed for sticker in the corner :/

posty is meant to check for these and then peel of the sticker on it , put it on the signature card and then go out and get it signed for ! some postys obviously cba or genuinely just dont notice the big orange sticker before posting it through your door .

id say special delivery is the only way its definetly gunna get there because everyone who ever touches that package/envelope has to sign for it !

If the documents you are sending are that important, you should use special delivery. Recorded delivery is no different to normal 1st/2nd class mail except it should get signed for when it arrives, it can not be tracked as it just goes in with all the other mail.

It's also worth noting that at times the website doesn't update as fast as it should.

I had an item delivered yesterday, it's not showed up as delivered on the RM site yet (despite me having the packaging in my grubby little hands).

Fair comment but I'm 99% certain that the package the OP sent would've been a large user and therefore not delivered on a normal walk. I suspect that it's gone right into the direct bag and not kept out to be signed for. It happens.
