I was shocked the other day when I sent two letters 1st class and the price of a stamp is £1.70. You'd think being this expensive, you'd get some modicum of service at least.

I posted 2 letters 1st class on Thursday of last week and here we are 7 days later and neither letter has arrived. I thought, "lets post it early" as they are birthday cards and anniversary cards, but there is no sign of them so I am majorly miffed. Thinking back, I seem to get very little mail these days including hospital letters, which I know they have sent that just don't turn up at all. What is going on, do they still have employees who can't be bothered to do their job and just burn the post instead?

Is there an alternative as they are less than useless. The post that does come is usually folded in half and rammed into the letter box, so cards etc are ruined.

I had an extremely important letter to send the other day so sent it special delivery. The cost of postage and an A4 envelope was £10. At least it arrived next day.
TO be honest, for £10 I could have driven the card to both locations and the only cost would be time. It wouldn't have cost me £10 in diesel. Wish I had now.

Its not so much the price as the total lack of service. I can well believe a quarter of letters never arrive being that I rarely get hospital appointments or bank documents. This leads me to believe that they are getting in the cheapest labour they can and they are burning letters (again)

Yes you could take it yourself -but it will cost you a lot more than £1.70
Thats like buying a mcdonalds and them not giving it to you and saying "well you could have cooked at home and it would have been cheaper" Kind of missing the point.

So I had a text message off birthday girl, the card arrived this morning! So thats a week after posting. On a 1 - 2 day "service"

The anniversary card sent at the same time did arrive on Saturday morning, so thats something I suppose.
