Royal mail, just typical.

I'm here now in the sorting office. They're open till 4pm. They said it hasn't come back yet and they sometimes don't come back on a Saturday till 330pm. I just said I'd wait here till it comes back. I said to the woman that it was marked "inaccessible" even though I was waiting outside and she just shrugged.

Is this something super important that you need for today?

Seems a bit much effort to hang about a PO depot for hours, the postie is probably delivering all the other stuff before returning back to depot at the end of his shift.
What if just say hes got loads left and decides to deliver as many as possible then he's late back to the depot?

In all fairness the wife behind the desk has zero impact or involvement on your parcel

It's Saturday. And special delivery items aren't delivered past 1pm. It's coming back here. There's also nothing to stop this happening again if I don't wait.

Yes they are, the aim is before 1pm but they don't suddenly stop delivering them at 1pm.
I had one delivered at around 3pm before, which meant I could claim my postage back.

You're right. It turned up at about 2.15pm. Luckily my wife was in to receive it.

The outer packaging had severe water damage. I took photos/videos but the contents inside are dry.

Under normal circumstances.

We will continue to accept, prioritise and deliver as many Special Delivery Guaranteed by 9am or 1pm items as resources allow during industrial action. We cannot however guarantee delivery next day for items sent during periods of industrial action. We are therefore suspending the delivery guarantee for items posted from Thursday 25 August 2022, up to and including items sent on Thursday 1 September 2022 or for items sent between Wednesday 7 September 2022 up to and including items posted on Saturday 10 September 2022. Customers will not be able to claim for delay or consequential loss as a result of delay for items posted on these dates and which are not delivered on time.

Only yellow sticker "SG" Special Delivery items are guaranteed to get a pre 1300 delivery attempt on a Saturday under normal circumstances.

Another trick. As RM added so much freebies like free collection and the need to take photo for almost every tracked item, when a postman won’t make in time, he may be instructed to scan the item as no access and then try to deliver later. Personally I never done that in 8 years, but seems like a lot of people can’t bother to change the order they do their duties to accommodate for times deliveries.
Not a good practice either, as sometimes I have Special Deliveries all over the round, I usually deliver all of them and after start the delivery as I want.

Incorrect. Special delivery items not marked SG (Saturday guarantee) which carries an additional premium, can be delivered anytime on a Saturday as they are only guaranteed for 1pm on the Monday (Tuesday in case of a bank holiday).
