Have a received a red slip from Royal Mail, but could not deliver as it requires a signature. I have not ordered anything, or requested anything?

Does anyone know if this is a companies way of trying to confirm I live at the address?

Has anyone ever received these?

Thanks

just go down to sorting office ask to see it before signing for it, then refuse it if it isn't something you want/ordered and RM will send it back

Ah that's a good idea. I find it random that they require a signature. Seems suspicious to me, or maybe i'm just paranoid, but then again I haven't ordered or requested anything.

Capita/TV Licencing are known to use this method if they're struggling to put a name to an address.

You can always go down the office, see who the sender is and refuse the letter without signing for it.

I had them try this stunt on me a few years ago, when I didn't have a TV. My postman, however, must have been sympathetic, as he'd written "TV Licencing" on the card :D :)

Thanks I'll do that, will feel a bit silly saying "nope send it back please!"
Does it sound like a company trying to confirm something on there database kinda thing?

It has my name on the red slip, can I just say can i see if I want to sign for this letter or not? and they'll be ok with that?

lolopparanoia.

They already know you live there (considering it's addressed to you by name, at your address) so why would it matter if that was confirmed? If it's the TV licensing people, either buy a licence, or confirm to them that you don't watch TV/require one - I'm sure someone on here said they did that and heard nothing more from them.

lol, it wont be me owing to TV license i assure you. But as the previous said I will see who its from before signing. Thanks guys

WHAT. THE. ****.

Just go collect the damn letter/parcel, sign for it, and deal with whatever it is afterwards. Jesus Christ.

Sorry Question has been answered. Chill out with your annoying posts,to something that has already been answered.

JESUS CHRIST.

Thanks

Not really weird if you have moved somewhere, like with a partner or something and have had a history with agencies. I'd be paranoid too, so no need to jump on your high horse and get annoyed with people for doing something you personally wouldn't do.

Each unto their own, like the first reply said - I'd check who it was from before signing for anything.
