Why is the company so damn useless.

Got home from work on Tuesday to find a sorry you were out card, fair enough both me and the OH were at work.

Looked on the back of the card to see if I could collect, but know as Mon-Fri 0700 - 1300 Sat 0700 - 1100. This is VERY helpful as I work 0600-1600 so can't collect.

So went online to arrange a re-delivery, chose to have the letter re-delivered today as I knew I could be in.

About 10 minutes ago postie turns up, drops a letter through the door and walks off, no knock, no nothing. The letter that turned up wasn't even for us, it was for the lady who lived here previously.

So still haven't received the letter and, unfortunately the distribution office is closed now (closed before postie turned up) so can't even go and collect it now.

Is there anything else I can do? Anywhere else I can complain to and find out where my ****ing letter is?

I don't even know who the letter was from so can't even contact whoever sent it.

(Letter was Recorded Signed For)

i think you can arrange for it to go to your nearest high street postoffice and collect from there, they open till 17:30

I'd do that except I don't see why I should pay the surcharge to do this because of their incompetency, buts thanks anyway :) also whereabouts in Camberley are you if you don't mind me asking?

Around here parcel post usually comes in the van but the normal post man still comes with the letter post so it could still be on its way to you in the van

Van's literally just been and gone and still nothing...

Ah well guess I'm gonna have to ring the on my lunch break on Monday...

Just really annoys me that you arrange for something to happen for a specific day, then wait in just for said something and it doesn't happen, complete waste of a morning...

When did you request the redelivery? If you did it last night it is probbaly just the case that the system was not checked in time for the item to be put out for delivery today. Also you say you can not collect from the delivery office because you are at work, but you can be at home waiting for the delivery during the time when the office is open (0700-1100 Saturday morning)?

Did it on Tuesday as the OP would suggest...

Why use my fuel driving over to the other side of Farnbourgh when I can get it re-delivered free of charge (or not in this case obv)

I'm not saying you should collect it, just pointing out that it is inaccurate to say that you are unable to collect it because of the opening times. Unfortunately a lot of redelivery requests which are made online seem to get cocked up, probably something to do with RMs crap IT systems. You can also also get the item redelivered to any other address in the area served by your delivery office for free. This could allow you to get the item delivered to work (if you or your other half work locally) or a neighbour during the week if that is any use.

I've never had an issue with Royal Mail funningly enough, I used to do a lot of ebaying (Yes I know, I am now appalled.) and most of the things I sent/recieved came in on time and had no damage. TNT/ParcelForce/UPS on the other hand usually broke stuff and delivered late.

Thanks for the advice really do appreciate it. Wasn't having a go at you, for what you said, I'm just so ****ed off with it that everyone's getting it in the neck atm.

Guessing there's nowhere else I can complain to about this?

O boo hoo people moaning at Royal Mail again.

I like how some bad posties seem to drag down everyones opinion of RM. I have worked there for a few months and I do the job as it should be. There are some that take short cuts but surprisingly enough that happens in every job.

I do however agree that the opening times of the office are a bit rubbish but if you were to see the amount of oversized packets, recorded letters, tracked items and specials that come back to the office daily as people aren't in it takes time to put them all on the system. There are literally 100s on a daily basis, I came back with around 20 alone one day in the week.

Also how does the postman know who lives there and who doesn't now? Unless people have a redirection if a letter has a name and address on it, it gets delivered. It's not up to me to knock on your door and find out the names of all the tenants.

Not everyone at Royal Mail is as bad as you make out so don't judge everyone by your bad experience. I go out of my way to help people when I can.

just a quick tip. if you're in and expecting a delivery put a note outside saying "WE ARE IN!". the amount of times i've read threads on this forum to say "i waited all day was in and they just gave the note without trying, didn't even knock" etc. If you put a note outside this is the best bet then at least they'll know you are there and to actually knock louder.

That's royal mail for you, only delivering mail during working hours. It would make so much more sense for them to deliver when people are actually at home.
