Hello all,

I am after some advice please. I am shortly moving house and will be using the post offices redirection service. I have three options to choose from as to how long I want this service to run for. 3 months (£30), 6 months (£40 and 12 months (£60).

As you can see there is a charge for this service. £60 is ok but do I need 12 months?

Has anyone got any experience with this service and advise what the best length of time to choose is?

Thanks. :)

Depends how quickly you get everything changed over, I ran mine for 3 months the last time I moved house and that gave me plenty of time to get everything updated.

My son is still getting the odd bank statement or letter (i.e. not spam post) to his old address and he moved over a year ago. Get to know the people at your old address and ask them nicely to forward anything it won't cost them.

Andi.

If you are going to be in the same area I'd say leave a nice note. Get the 3 months but then ask if they're okay to hold anything after than and you pick it up every 2-4 weeks.

I did 6 months when we moved house last year, more than enough time to sort or wait for any incoming mail that's important, you have to wait a few days extra to the redirected mail through the system. :)

we did ours for 6 months when we moved, it just gave us extra time to pick up on anything we'd missed when we did the address changes with places.

If you're anything like me, if you take the 12 option then you'll leave changing your address until 11 months after you've moved in. 6 months should be fine.

I did 12 months in the past as you do occasionally get yearly letters that you'll have forgotten to change.

Nothing worse than looking at your bank statement to see that £500 has been taken by DirectLine only to phone up and find out they sent 2 letters to your old address warning you they would be renewing your car insurance unless you told them not to!

I changed everything I could think of within a few weeks of moving and still had about a letter every month redirected until the 12 months ended.

I know someone who did this and they ended up receiving the new occupants of their old house's post redirected to them. :D
