Morning
Looking to replace wifi antennas on the motherboard
From what I gather DBI is the range or the capability of the antenna to broadcast signal
I recon around 8+dbi should be good to go for a home use
2.4+5ghz dual band
Am I looking for anything else?
I mean length is important, can sized is better than usb sized.
Not looking to get anything wired, just screw at the back and forget about it
Any help appreciated

You will be fairly safe with any decent brand of PCI-E Wireless Card.

I've had TP-Link ones in the past which have been fine apart from there own software that installs with the drivers can be annoying.

I have wired now with a switch in my room but you will be safe with most.

dBi (and dB in lots of cases) is a measure of gain, not range. It's a good general unit to compare i.e. higher dBi means it can pick up/ transmit more signal, etc. A longer antenna might not necessarily be better, and that's why dBi is useful. Just replace them with something similar to what was supplied. If you want more signal, yes you will need to make changes to the antenna - either an amplifier or moving it to where there is more signal via a wire. Are you having signal problems?

The card will come with aerials appropriately sized, and will cost about the same

(I may have broken aeriasl before & found this out first hand)

Will try and order some from overseas. Dont actually use wifi but its nice to have just in case
Cheers guys
