RPG Games like Diablo/Torchlight?

Agreed, but it is pushing the envelope on that a little.

I myself love the games and I just cannot stop playing them... Im on Souldstorm once again with the Space Marines and right after I complete the game, I will be running through on DOW2. That will be the 14th or 155th time that I have run through all 5 games as Space Marines but I have completed D.C and S.S possibly well over 100 times now.

And I just cannot get enough!!

Nope, but then neither is HellGate:London but thats been mentioned a few times and The Dawn Of War Series is almost exactly like Diablo in many ways... Its a lot closer than HGL FFS.

So, oblivion is very close to the RPG side of things, hence thats why I added that!

Hellgate London is pretty similar from what I played, Dawn Of War really isn't. Dawn of War 2 is similar on a very tenuous level (kill monsters, collect loot) but again isn't really similar.
 
I got diablo and unless we are looking at completely different games, to say that its similar to hellgate but not DawN Of war, then we are clearly NOT talking about the same game at all???

I would put Hellgate london into a First person shooter category with elements of Role Play sure.
I would put DOW into a top-down RTS... Role play? Perhaps iot has elements of that yes, but an RTS first.

Diablo is the same as DOW in that its a top-down, just the same as DOW and an RTS just the same as DOW, but to say its closer to Hellgate Im very confused about that????

Im going to have to dig it out now cos I cant really remember actually liking the game at all? - I got Diablo II here.

Have you played the game? Diablo is not an RTS, DoW is not a role playing game. The only thing DoW and Diablo share in common is the viewpoint, the only thing (Pretty much) that Hellgate doesn't share in common with Diablo is the viewpoint, everything else is very similar.
 
Ok, so you are saying that HG:L and Diablo are one in the same game ( For the sake of arguement ) but one is played "TOP-DOWN" style, and the other "First Person"... But they are essentially the same apart from that??

For the sake of the arguement I mean...
I do accept they are not the same game.
 
Hellgate was only a first person shooter if you played it as a sniper or engineer. It had an almost identical loot system, randomisation in level design, similar random side missions that could pop up in the main levels, the same online co-op mechanic, an inventory system that was pulled straight from Diablo, and it even had it's own peg-legged wirt character.

Move the game to an isometric perspective and it's a straight Diablo rip-off. The devs made no secret of this, they were almost all ex-diablo developers who wanted to do an updated version of the same type of game.

I never knew about this. I almost wished the t I could move DoW to an FPS Perspective now - That would be great... Or another UnReal I suppose?

Anyway I have that page up and I will be looking at it shortly but in the mean time Im installing HG:L now too! - Just to see...

So, how do I change the perspective then? Maybe I should read the manual?

Sorry. The classes other than marksman and engineer get a kind of 3rd person view by default :)

Load it up anyway, it's better than people give it credit for.

Well, I was, but I was wrong it seems.

I see Diablo as looking very much the same as Dawn Of war
I see HellGate as an FPS

Then people say that HG:L is an RPG and that DOW is nothing like Diablo, but in my eyes it was a lot close that HG:L ( But I have not seen the other perspective on HG:L only the FPS )

So,m from what I have seen, you were all seemingly talking rubbish and nothign made any sense to me....

Now that I find out HG:L has another viewpoint that is teh same as Diablo it makes sense but it didnt earlier on.

I kind of liked the game... I found it started to get a little too samey after a while though and I never completed it...

I have gone throuth all the characters and they all start up in FPS mode.

How can I get any it to play in the other mode?

Are you actually reading the posts?!? No-one said it was top down, good grief. Hellgate London is a first person action RPG. Dawn of War is a top down real time strategy game. Starting to think this is a wind up!
 
Yes its my mistake...

I have the flu so im not thinking..

I did read that, but when I saw third person, I was taking it as top-down.

Simple mistake, but with bigger concequences clearly.
 
I never tried Loki as I always heard it was very buggy. Has the game been pathed now or was it never that bad to begin with (I am only really interested in the single player side)
