RPGs on the 360

Hey guys, I feel like trying out some rpg action on the xbox 360, have you got any recomendations?

Would prefer some form of hack and slash.

What do you think to the likes of Conan? Or should i stear clear.
 
I assume you have played oblivion? If not i suggest you start there, people seem to love that game.
 
Oblivion, Mass Effect and Two Worlds for more standard RPG, Puzzle Quest for a more odd RPG and maybe Kingdom Under Fire for hack and slash?
 
Surprised someone suggested 2 Worlds

Thought it was one of the worst games ive ever played on the xbox 360 :O
 
For a hack and slash rpg you should check Marvel: Ultimate Alliance out. Also the soon to be released Kingdom under Fire and Too Human look right up your street (quite diablo esque)

Two Worlds, Oblivion, Mass Effect are all a bit more hardcore. Two Worlds was better than I expected. It's quite old school and has more techinical issues that one would actually like but managed to keep my attention until the end and I would admit to liking it. It did score 2/10 from games(tm) though so I'd always hesitate actually recommending it :)

Oblivion is excellent and offers a lot of game but is first person, quite deep and not really hack and slash. Mass Effect is one of the greatest games ever made (it took me a whle to realise this). It has a deep immersive story and combat system taken from gears of war / graw (but not quite implemented as well). It's definately a thinking mans game though so might not be the sit back hack and slash title you're after.

If you fancy a japanese rpg with turn based combat then I'd recommend Blue Dragon then Eternal Sonata then Enchanted Arms. There's also the hack and slash Phantasy Star Universe which gets a bit repetitive but is far more hack and slash and is still quite a laugh.

Kingdom of fire is out soon and looks exactly what you're looking for. Marvel Alliance is a game you can easily get on the cheap if you're looking for something now
 
Actually i thought Conan was brilliant but its not an RPG. It's a bit of a marmite game though. Best 2 RPG's on the 360 are Oblivion and Mass Effect :)
 
I do find the demo of conan pretty fun, the combos and parry moves are quite entertaining, but if the consensus is the full game is a bit rubbish I won't bother with it.

I don't know if that is the consenus, if you read the old Conan thread i think more people liked it than disliked it. You should be able to get it cheap now.

definatly oblivion, and get the shivering isle expansion pack, mass effet is also good.

two worlds is better now the update is out but it can be made to run much quicker by typing a few codes into the console.


hold lb and rb then press a,then type these into the console.

engine.grassq 0
engine.shadows 0
engine.usedynamiclighting0

Expect a 30 second wait on each as the game adjusts


it runs much much better.
 
I'm playing Kingdom Under Fire:COD at the moment, it isn't exactly what I was hoping for (definately no Diablo contender).

It is however, extremely hack and slash as you require. I think it could be fun Co-Op though, it's just a shame there's no real chance to beard in the game.
 
Mass Effect is supposed to be good, havent had a chance to get properly into it yet myself but the first few scenes look awesome.
