RPG's - suggestions?

I am not talking about mmo's here.

I am looking for a game like KOTOR, I have tried mass effect, never winter nights and of course kotor and obvlivion - any other major games that play very similar to kotor?

Planescape Torment

Newer:
I've heard that Drakensang is similar in style to the old school party based RPGs.

How good is Baldurs Gate II? I bought this many years ago and never really played it, was thinking about going back to it.

KOTOR 2 ?

Not a fan really. I hate the random battles and the turn based (the only game I enjoyed like this was Final Fantasy 7).

I've just purchased Sacred 2, and so far I think is fantastic. Very similar to the likes of Diablo, Dungeon Siege and Titan Quest.

This. Not a game has been made since that has the depth, scale or detail as BGII.

It's worth playing through BG to import your character into BGII too, you can get quite attached to them after such epic adventures!

Edit:- The playstation version, NOT the PC - unles you get all the addons, but even then the music is in MIDI formatt and sucks!!!
 
If you liked Mass Effect, then maybe DeadSpace?

It's primarily an FPS, but with a few RPG features like upgrade trees and whatnot - think Bioshock-eqsue RPG-ness :)
 
It is has been suggested on this forum lots before but just to reiterate :)

Baldurs Gate 2 is one of, if not the best RPG ever but Baldurs Gate the original is very very close behind and can be played with the Baldurs gate 2 engine using a mod called tutu. The games are also basically sequential so you can finish Baldurs gate and simply start BG2 with the same characters.

Great games.

Fallout 3 is exceptional as well if you have not tried it.
 
Why do ppl like baldurs gate games, i thought they were very boring and slow also the gfx are not great either. I did like the xbox game tho as that was easier to get into and had co-op with my bro tho was stuck on that eye monster we couldnt kill.
 
lol not liking the Baldurs Gates games is like not liking RPGs each to his own of course but for example I am not a big fan of Dungeon Siege or Diablo as they are too shallow for me and to be honest I do not even consider them to be RPGs.

Some people like more story than action and vice versa but I like a balance between both with a true strategy element thrown in for good measure, BG provide this in spades.

Guess you don't like excellent writing and character interaction. Or plot.
