Hey :(

I just turned on my 360 to find myself greeted with the three red rings of death :(

I've never had this happen to me before - I just checked the dataplate on the back and the date is 04-15-2006

Anything I can do? Or will I need to buy a new xbox?

Thanks muchly :(

Marky

hey visit here they do good RROD repair, they did mine and never had a problem since :)

better to get it repaired than waste money getting a new one.
To be honest... If I'm getting it repaired at all - I want it to be Microsoft repairing it... I've heard so many times where people get it repaired only for it to fail three months down the line...

I very much doubt I have the reciept from where I purchased it from though :(

You dont need it, Just register it on Xbox.com under support, And it'll give you the details of your console, and allow you to send it off for repair. Brother did it a week ago, no receipt required. :)

Not much you can do with it being out of warranty. Just buy a brand new Arcade - you should be able to pick these up for around £130 without too much trouble.

Then, flog your old console on an auction site and you should quite easily get £30, maybe even up to £40. Sell your power supply for £10, your pad (if you don't need another) for £20 and then you're recouped £60 to £70 of the cost already. Total cost to you is then around the £60 mark.

Yes it sucks, but at least if you did fancy getting another system you'd get a box with the far more reliable Jasper chipset. Or you could just sell all your 360 stuff on, up to you :)

However I'd suggest having a go at fixing it yourself. Even if you did the easy and crappy fix (which is simply bolting the heatsinks straight to the motherboard and whacking a few washers on) and you only got 3 months out of it, that's still delaying the purchase of a new console by 3 months.

As it's only a small amount outside of the warranty I'd try microsoft tbh.
Maybe try the SoGa approach after all it's a widely known problem.

Mine died a few a few days ago (rrod) and is with MS for repair at the moment. Bought it in 06 and had the mobo replaced under warranty around a year ago. Im sure the warranty was up but theyve said they'll repair it for free which I was fairly surprised about, was planning to buy a new one but thought Id phone them on the off chance.

I got an E74 error on mine a couple of days ago, no warning just dash corrupted and on restrting E74, fortunately I have a backup XBOX :p
