Thats exactly the point I'm trying to make, my card is perfectly fine in running games on high settings, so why doesnt this? :mad:

I'm not sure the X800 series classifys as old tech, if i can play Oblivion with med-high settings at a decent rez. My X800GTO is more powerful than an 6600gt, yet a 6600 can play SC since it has sm3?!

Lazy developers, or constraints made by graphics card makers I guess to get people buying their SM3.0 graphics cards.
 
I guess they may add SM2.0 support in the future with a patch like they did with SC:Chaos Theory, but who knows.

EDIT: What engine is this running on? UE3? If so, I guess it would be impossible to patch it to SM2.0 as UE3 is SM3 based, whereas Chaos Theory was on the UE2.5.

I'm also up with going with the latest and pushing everything on, but I'm going to have to support you on your X8xx card - my X850XT (running at above XTPE speeds), in conjunction with the system listed in my sig, powers Half-Life 2 and Battlefield 2 at 1920x1200, 4xAA and 2xAF completely smoothly :) Great wee card and since they're the only 2 games I really play (and Far Cry too), I'll be holding onto it for a while yet.

Good to see someone on my side.. ;) Guess I'm not getting any games for christmas, and I'll just have to wait to see if a patch is released :(
 
Cant say im to excited to play this, the first video was great, the casino video. The video I downloaded before showing fighting outside wasnt so great.

That and lockdown :-x
 
Heh, SM3 only? That's going to hurt sales and/or catch out a bunch of less aware gamers. It was bad enough when BF2 came out requiring SM2, that caused problems and fuss for some people.

It did but it hardly restrained the sales much though as now its one of the biggest online FPS game.
 
when the game finally comes out ill bet it runs on all current systems,
think of all the potential sales they will lose out on, bad strategy ....
i just bought an AGP 7800GS 512mb (7900chip onboard) luckily it runs 3.0 shaders ;p

really looking forward to this game, hope its not a direct port of the 360 version
