I'm sorry this may sound like a stupid thread but what's the difference between the rs4 and rs6 other than the time frames the cars were produced?

I've tried to figure it out for my self but it just seems as they brought out the rs6 and while they began to stop producing it then began to bring out the rs4 a slightly newer model..

The Rs6 is the sporty version of the 6 (larger) series, and the rs4 is the sporty version of the 4 series of audis.

The Rs6 also produces more power and has a larger engine.
Why dont you just look this up? Google is your friend.
The Rs4 has 420bhp and the new rs6 has 580bhp.

Had a quick look on google/ebay what threw me off was the fact they both have 4.2l engines and both come in similar shapes.. I decided not to look at bhp figures as looking at models on ebay a lot of them had different figures...

I'm sorry close this thread.

Well the RS6 you're talking about with the 4.2 is an older model with twin turbos 480 bhp or so the rs4 you're looking at is the new one with a v8 na 4.2 with 420ish bhp.

The new RS6 has a 5.2l V10, the outgoing RS4 has a 4.2l V8. You're probably finding the older RS6 models second hand, which all came before the outgoing RS4.

One is a big heavy barge and one is a ship. They both consume fuel like Texas and make a nice noise while wafting you around at light speed. Neither are as much fun as their bmw competitors but both are more rounded and capable I would suggest.

Is the A6 actually that much bigger than the A4? Reason for asking is that my friend and I were in an Audi dealership recently and were looking at an A4 Avant and A6 Avant side by side. We were very hard pushed to differentiate them from each other and without looking at the trim/badges I doubt I could tell the difference at a glance.

See the RS4 as a church and the RS6 as a cathedral in weight terms. I think the A6 is about 3" longer than an A4, but I am not 100% sure.
