I pulled this from RS246.com who held a RR day in April and I think this shows how far off the RS4 is from its stated numbers, well at least according to a Rolling Road. Here is a simple cut of the stats:

Pippyrips – 416.3
rAudiguy – 413.2
bn8959 – 386.2 STOCK, 18k miles
Outlaw – 376.8
dubbers – 374.9 STOCK, 22K miles, 3K (12 months) since last oil change
Dom81 – 371.7 STOCK, 11K miles, 600 miles since last oil change, SW0090
SR-71 – 369.9
Scoobysnack – 367.6
Jezzer – 367.4 STOCK 11k miles, 2k miles since last oil change
Red Rocket – 363.5
Adam – 363.5 APS remap, 13k miles
P_G – 359.7 STOCK 46000mls 3000 miles until AVS 3 oil change
Marcus_RS4 – 355.8
Pad125 – 355.3 STOCK 28000mls serviced in Dec08
Rs4_avant – 347.8
Gazzer68 – 343 STOCK 33800mls, service done 2 weeks ago
timRS4 – 338.2
Klauster – 325
Scaghead – 311.8
MacRS4 – 301.9
Oli – 297.3 (Maff fault code) STOCK 33600mls SVC due next week

Mine was 366 on the same type of RR.

"MacRS4 – 301.9"

This one seems unbelievable. It means that an 8000rpm Audi 4.2 V8 is producing just 50hp more than a 6500rpm Audi 3.2 V6?

I don't think they could make it that bad if they tried!

I'm driving an American engined 3.6 Cadillac at the moment, that on paper has more hp than that dyno is saying.

That is pretty damn bad, at least 10% out on a the majority of cars, what sort of mods did the cars that hit the power have?

had the top two had any work done?

are they all the 4.2 v8? no older 2.7 V6 TT's in there?

seem a MASSIVE spread to me!

I'd be more concerned that there is such a huge variation, it really is rather odd. I've never heard any reviewer complaining of a lack of grunt so perhaps the RS4 just doesn't like RR's? Some sort of electronic/4WD issue getting in the way?

Ever since the B7 RS4 started to appear on Rolling Roads people have been complaining about the poor numbers they seem to put out and it's the same with the R8 too which has the same engine. It doesn't feel like a car with 414bhp and never has really, I've always felt the same way and it seems Audi have been somewhat ambitious with their BHP claims if the RR can be taken at face value. As I said if mine was the odd one out I would be more annoyed but it seems they are all down on horses and I have much more important stuff to worry about than my day to day cars BHP.

Has anyone actually pulled their motor and ran it on a dyno?
I've heard a lot of complaints about the RS4 being down on power but they always seem to be backed up by rolling road results, rather than a dyno run.

Several in the US I believe, there was talk of a class action (again I have read) about it.

Not really, as the Audi is a little heavier, is 4wd so will have slightly higher transmission losses and IIRC the gearing on the M5 is a tad more aggresive.

I believe Audi's numbers 0-150 are better for the RS6 over the M5 so they feel the weight isnt an issue and from a Rolling start neither should the driver be.

I suppose it'd need a few owners to dyno their engines to form any kind of proof.....but if it's true then they may have a case.
That said, there are a lot of variables that impact on power output. Perhaps Audi conducted their tests at optimum temp/air density etc, whereas those who drive in the real world can rarely replicate that.
