Anybody got, or had a C7 RS6 Avant with 4.0 t/turbo motor? Thinking about running one as a DD as an upgrade to the current C7 allroad. I do max 10k p/a btw.

Thoughts on residuals over next 2 years? Freefall due to the new C8 coming, or going to stay somewhat firm? Is it a good time to do a deal on these? Seen them in the sub-50s now.

For those that have run them, are the running costs OK? Im ok with the MPGs etc, but do they suffer anything specific on that generation?

My insurance is basically for nothing, but i've heard these are especially nickable? still the case, and to the point where its not worth the hassle? Quite like the anonymity of the allroad, so would spec dark colourways etc. Its going to get left wherever, supermarkets, stations, work stuff etc etc; so cant be precious about it.

Price wise, im looking at sub 60k 16-17 plate with some options - but not dynamic pack as I want the air suspension.

am i mad? its heart/head tbh as for all intents and purposes my allroad has everything bar the engine. its the 270bhp one, but I just fancy one - always have.

I've never looked at the RS6 but what is "basically for nothing?" last time I looked at a RS4 (quite awhile ago now) the insurance was £LOL and only specialists would touch it and I usually get pretty good quotes for insurance.

EDIT: Also the road tax alone on that is likely to be more than most people pay for insurance heh although I guess it is part and parcel really if you can afford that car in the first place.

Not an RS6 but an S6 C7 here.

I have this coming from an M5 and needed an estate. It looses out in many areas compared to the F10 BMW tech wise, which given, bar the RS6, it's the pinnacle of Audi's A6 lineup, it leaves you a bit dissatisfied with what should be a car at least a tech generation newer than the competition. However, Mercedes were also guilty of this with the same gen E class which was like getting into a car from the previous decade. However, can't complain about anyone or handling, especially in this climate. Brand new 12k in and not one issue, so far

@grudas something specific? as id heard it was pretty reliable as per the rest of the a6 lineup.

@Rroff Ive got one of those admiral multicar ones, and the current audi is about 450. its one of the things id have to find out i guess.

@Django x2 i should be ok with that, as i've got a C7 Allroad with pretty much every option. I find it as good as the BM tbh, what do you find not as good? Only thing I guess it doesnt have is a fully LED dash, but im quite happy with the middle bit being LED.

edit: didnt realise the S6 had basically the same engine, how do you find it? did you try an RS too?

I work with a guy with an RS6, its about 10 months old now so I don't think hes had any issues yet, just 1 service I think.
Thing is hes loaded so what he would consider reasonable not everyone would ;)
Hes got most of the options, it wasn't far shy of £90k I believe. List that is, not sure how much he haggled them down.

If you have any specific questions then I will ask him.

I must admit, (I never would to him though), whilst its very nice inside, it does feel dated compared to my TT which was bought just before his.
I would expect the new one to be quite a jump compared to the current. I am surprised they hadn't updated the interior before now, volume of sales I guess.
Don't get me wrong, not saying its bad as its not, it just feels like most cars now cluttered, the VC takes away so many buttons etc when implemented into the new cars

He wanted the RS6 and didn't want to take the risk on the new generation so bought when he did.
He shares my view that fast petrol cars are not long for this world. Hes slightly less optimistic than me one when the point of reasonable change will come, ie when you start to run into issues like petrol stations closing etc

Yep, it's basically the same engine. By all accounts, simply a map will take an S6 to the same power output of the RS. We did try an RS6, but we leased, and the RS6 wasn't in the deal (so we can't "map" either, but likely to keep this beyond the lease) You'll also lose out on the flared arches and different exhaust, but pretty much everything else is the same.

The MMI is slower than iDrive of the same era. Bluetooth pairing is sometimes unreliable and takes a while to connect, the screen is a bit meh and the satnav is quite far behind where the M5 was (although that had RTTI and I don't have the Google stuff in the S6).

You can't have the exterior carbon pack either if you want to tow.

I had an RS6 on my shortlist for next tow car but most of the cars for sale without the dynamic pack (DRC) & carbon exterior pack seem to be specced quite low. I wasn't sure about resale either as everyone except those that tow will want DRC (I was looking at one a while ago instead of my GTR) so it limits your resale a bit which puts me off buying one.
