Hello guys.

Sister has just phoned in absolutely hysterics saying she just saw a man across the street literally beat a dog up.

The dog ran out of the door and got in to a fight with another dog across the street, so the owner apparently went over to the dog and repeatedly punched it in the face and then threw it across the street, my sister said she heard something crack it was that much of a slam.

We don't know what condition the dog is but obviously it can't be very good after having that done to it. Seriously, how can people do this? It's just insane.

Anyway, it has been reported to the RSPCA and apparently they are going to investigate.

Has anyone here reported a case like this before, and if so, how long did it take before action was taken etc?

Thanks.

nope, but if anything went for my dog I wouldnt be standing by letting it happen, but I wouldnt beat any dog excessively

Just to make my self clear. It was the owner of the Dog beating his own Dog, not the other dog.

aaaaaaaaaaah well then, nah, I would make sure what she was doing is wrong, straight to bed, a little tap, but nothing jackie chan style...

probably an over reaction from the owner to that recent news story where a dog mauled a blind person's labradore and the owner did nothin... still, no need for any of that.

Sadly RSPCA inspectors are at their limit at the moment thanks to state of the economy, but response times are fairly swift, usually within a few days.

What sort of dog was involved? If it was a rotty or a staffy then it would probably have taken a lot of force to get it to stop. Of course I'm not condoning or suggesting what happened was appropriate.

It was a Staffy. Sadly the owner of the dog is a well known drug dealer around these parts so it really doesn't give him a 'fair' impression on what he did.

I'm not sure he beat the dog because he couldn't split them up, as far as I'm aware he beat the dog after they had a scrap as a punishment.

admittedly its sounds like he went overboard but there isnt much else he could have done ? the rspca usually destroy dogs like that so in effect it has gotten off lightly with the beating !

Do you really think that? I mean I cant sorta understand where your coming from, but if I was taking a daily beating that could possibly crack my ribs and all that pain, I would wonder which option would be better

The owner is clearly incapable of looking after his dog, as such the dog sadly needs to be removed. Beating up a dog for doing something wrong is a crap method of training, so there is no reason to believe this isn't a frequent occurrence.

Sad. Staffies can be lovely, doesn't look like this one had a chance.

RSPCA and Dog Warden will do nothing, realistically, without video evidence of the event.

They'll turn up, check that the dog has sufficient bedding, food and shelter, and leave with a tick on their sheets.

It's up to you and your neighbours to report the rest re. drug dealing.
