Hi guys,
I am having a really strange problem.
I have a new Asus RT-N66U, it is a great router but it seems to cut out every 12-24 hours.
When it cuts out, only some of the devices on the network disconnect, and all the devices are using 2.4ghz (I have 5ghz disabled).
It is usually my phone which cuts out totally, but my PC does it too sometimes. When it happens to my phone, it loses connection, but then sometimes re-connects, but then is more or less instantly booted off again. When it happens to my PC (which is using a wireless adapter), the yellow exclamation mark comes up in front of the LAN symbol (not the wireless signal strength bars), and the network is visible, but it won't let me connect to it.
The only way to fix it is to restart the router, which solves it for another 12-24 hours.
The only thing I can think of is the fact that I have it in forced 40mhz in order to get 300mb/s to my PC, this enables me to get upwards of 95% of wired speed from my 120mb/s connection with my ISP.
But on the other hand, I think that it can't be the fact that it is on 40mhz because it works flawlessly for so long, and the network is actually visible when it disconnects.
The router is running in AP mode because my wireless gateway has no Bridge mode, something which is a bit of a pain also.
The firmware is also the latest, and is stock.
Any help?
