RT-N66U - Port Forwarding problems?

Hi there, just wondering if anyone else is having problems with port forwarding on the N66U, I've tried stock and merlin and both are unable to port forward properly.

Apparently I'm not the only one that gets this issue, I'm with VM, SH2 is in modem/bridge mode, I've tried DMZ too, no luck.

Bit annoyed and flustered!

Have you rebooted the router after forwarding the ports? Sounds rubbish to do but I had an issue with my 56 not forwarding and a reboot (from within the software) did the trick.

Are you confusing port forwarding and port triggering? The end result is similar, but they’re used for different purposes.

If there was a major problem with port forwarding on such a popular router it’d be common knowledge.

Nah definitely port forwarding, couldn't get anything to work, minecraft, arma 3 hosting, etc.

I emailed the dev to ask him what it does in detail, try to figure out why it makes it work lol.

Never had any problems port forwarding on my n66u (Merlin) and FTTC - the only caveat IIRC is that the local IP has to be a static rather than DHCP assigned IP.

Post a screenshot of your port forwarding config.

As you can see:D I've tried quite a few random tests, none of them work, without the port listener tool from above.

Any chance it's your local firewall? Have you double checked that the ports are open?

That Port Listener application will presumably have created exceptions for itself which could be why the port forwards only appear to work while it's running.

Yup, it attempts to create a rule using the Windows Firewall API.

'Port Listener' listening on port 21 could be a legitimate FTP server as far as the router is concerned. I don't think the RT-N66U is to blame.

Hmm strange, I've double checked and everything is turned off locally, windows firewall etc, it doesn't even work if I turn off the hardware firewall eithe

This came about after trying to host an arma 3 game for myself and a friend.

He couldn't manage to get it port forwarded or working either, and he wasn't even on VM, just BT Homehub4+modem.
