Hi All,

After just watching Black Hawk Down I feel like building a base based on current technology... is there actually a base building game like that... I have been racking my brain and cant think of any... and that is why I have come to you people :)

Stelly

Command and Conquer is the only one I can think of, but that game series has been dire pretty much since Westwood was gobbled up.

Perhaps there are mods for games like CoH / Supcom ?

Never heard of Act of War is it actual base building/unit production like C&C or is it more like -insert name- (Cant think of the name but you just controlled the units/requested backup etc and didnt acutally build a base)

Its like C&C Generals for the most part, but attempts to be serious with live-action cutscenes, normal-looking US units in-game and a terrorist faction led by a badly-acted "Russian" person. :p

do you mean world in conflict??? i agree since EA bought westwood c&c hasn't been the same, still enjoyed them just feel rushed, but there are others if you like a bit of base building, there's company of heros (WW2) act of war is very good, c&c generals is set in a modern ish time dawn of war and expansion packs are also great but it's set way in a fictional future but is very good fun for base building fans

but the one i miss the most is a game from way back warzone 2100, it was one of the first rts games i played and was great, not only can you build a base but there are so many upgrades you can do, infact its one of the best bits of the game, you start off with basic set of tech like wheeled tanks basic guns ect and you have to reserch whatever upgrades you want most and the co-op multi player was awesome, me and 2 of my old mates played as a team and with this game you could share all the tech and resorces, so 1 could go out captureing resorces, 1 can do reserch and base defences while the other can start building lots of tanks ready for the first victim :D

i wish someone would remake that game or bring out a new one, who's with me??? :D

Act of War was pretty good, kinda like a modern clone of the orginal C&C. Only problems with it were that it was quite easy and the zoom level was terrible, you could never zoom out far enough to see the whole battle.

this person speaks the absolute truth, its an overall good game and the story isn't half bad, certainly better take on things than most other games of the type, always a fan of taking POWs and getting resources in return, task force talon were abit overpowered in some aspects as well, securing buildings for example they are unbeatable. would love someone to tell me there is a hack or a mod that fixes the pathetic zooming, i feel like im playing from almost FPS perspective

doesn't work under Windows 7 64 bit though btw. Part of the installer is a 16-bit app so refuses to run regardless of compatibility settings.
