Possible misleading title :p but I was wondering if there are any RTS games that deals with Civilizations on the PC, that are similar to Civilization Revolution on the Xbox 360/PS3?

I'm really not too big on the Civ games that are available on PC, but want an RTS game similar, as Command & Conquer is getting abit stale. :p

Thanks!

Err, so you want something similar to civilization revolution but you DON'T want to play civilization

Why may I ask? Civ revolution is basically a simplified Civ 4, which I think you should consider. IMO the best of the Civ's aswell.

Exactly, I'm really not good at Civ games on the huge scale of things, I can do alright on the small maps but rarely win, I also loved the art style and pick up and play feel Civ'Rev had, and want to play something similar. :)

Have a look at the Age of Empires series perhaps.

Will do mate, thanks. :)

i don't know if it has to be a rts or if you think civ is too hard to get into

civ 5 is easy to pickup.

civ 5 is a cross between civ 4 and civ rev. its not as deep as civ 4, but its easy to pickup with a lot more depth & variety than civ rev

It's not really getting into it that I find difficult, its just playing it, period. :p

I'm terrible at these games, whereas I'm pretty beastly (hope I don't sound too big headed :p) at the Command & Conquer and Battle for Middle Earth games. Its the simulation civilization RTS genre that gets me, rarely even make it out of the barbarian age on the PC titles! :D

RTS:
Rise of Nations ( has a risk style TBS campaign mode too I guess)
Empire earth ( the first one, the newer ones are rubbish imo)
Supreme commander
Company of Heroes ( focusses more on the battles than construction though)
Starcraft 2 ( haven't played it though, but supposedly one of the best RTS).

Mix of RTS and TBS: Any total war game.

Civ4 and 5 are both awesome games though ? Are you you're not playing it on a to high difficulty level ? As the lower ones are, erm, so easy that they're boring, can't imagine you losing there :p.

I'll give them a look too :) I'm not sure what difficulty I played, it has been a few months, all I remember is getting destroyed by about 6 packs of Barbarians about a year into the game :p

I just really want to play something like Civ'Rev again, I never actually lose a game of that. :(

yes, but do you like civ rev? If yes than civ 5 is the next logical step
This in all honesty.

I don't think anyone out there finds Civ 5 complex, its very easy to pick up and play.

I find I play Civ 4 more for the multiplayer, and Civ 5 more for the single player though for some reason. So my suggestion is still to play Civ 4 if you fancy taking it online.

Is it significantly worse than SP ? I've played 4 and 5 a lot, and only 4 online but only because I didn't have any mates who played it online... Have they done something wrong in Civ5 mp that sp is better ?

Its simply been unpopular everytime I've attempted to get a game online, hardly anyone playing.

When you do join a game, theres usually one or two people who aren't in it for the long haul and quit prematurely thus spoiling the game for everyone else.

Much prefer civ 4 mp, plenty of games normally, people with better manners etc etc

Well, I've decided to go with Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai!

From what I've heard, I may be jumping in at the deep end here, but hey it was only a fiver! :p
