RTS games with adequate AI in diplomacy

So, I'm playing through Rome Total War imperial campaign again.

I'm getting so unbelievably frustrated with the idiotic diplomacy AI that it's driving me insane.

Is there any fairly modern RTS games which has decent AI?

I mean seriously, in RTW the opposing forces seem to have a lack of self preservation about them. I'd beaten the gaul back to their LAST small town, where they had their last family member, they refused to a ceasefire...

Has Shogun 2 total war got any better AI? I know Medieval obeys the same scripts as RTW

Sins of a solar empire + diplomacy expansion ?

Just get sins trinty it has all the expansions

Galactic Civilisations 2 is great if you like turn-based space warfare with indepth researching and scarily good AI.

Not really after anything Sci-fi, I like my swords
